C&D Lumber Co. traces its roots back to 1890, when Alfred Johnson built his first sawmill in Southern Oregon's Coos County. In 1943, the Johnson family built a mill near the Coos and Douglas County lines. The operation became C&D Lumber Co. because of this proximity to the Coos-Douglas County line. Today, the nationwide markets we serve and our mill's computerized state-of-the-art technology is more than Alfred Johnson could have imagined. But he would still recognize the old-world craftsmanship and cutting-mill quality of the wood products we manufacture. He would also recognize the other traditions we have continued: a respect for natural resources; a love for Port Orford Cedar; and the strong work ethic that has been our tradition since the Johnson Family founded the business at the turn of the century.
Now, at the turn of another century, we have grown to become the largest manufacturer of Port Orford Cedar products in America.
